Abstrak :
This
study aims to determine how the socio-economic conditions in the rice farming
families make ends meet in Kenagarian Kajai seen from the fulfillment of basic
needs (food, clothing and shelter), education, health, and income.
This research method is classified in a
descriptive study using a quantitative approach, the research subjects were
household heads rice farmers in the sub-district Kajai Kenagarian Talamau.
Withdrawal of the sample used is proportional random sampling technique with
the number of respondents is 101. Data collection techniques used in this study
were interviews and observation, data collection instrument used was a
questionnaire study. The data analysis technique is descriptive of the formula
because the goal is to see the percentage of trend-trend between each variable.
Results of the study include: 1) The
condition of inadequate fulfillment of basic needs (food not meet the
conditions of the standard four of five perfectly healthy, the condition of the
clothing is still low in the frequency of annual purchases, the condition of
the board unavailability of adequate housing facilities). 2) The condition of
formal education is low, mostly only up to primary school level (elementary),
and only a small proportion who had attended non-formal education are three
persons (3.0%) education of children already at the high school level, but
there are still many children The rice farmers who dropped out of school 134
people, the average length of education that they take is 6 years old. 3) health
condition is largely rice farming families suffering from flu and fever 63
people. 4) The condition of revenue is calculated based on the amount of
revenue expenditure. The average incomem received by the family of rice farmers
in Kenagarian Kajai is <Rp. 700,000.
